Belgian Supporter Group
FairPlay has an extremely active support group in Belgium, the home country of our co-founder John Adriaenssens. This group holds regular fundraising events and enthusiastically promotes our work.
On average, the group raises a total of around €15,000 ($20,000) a year by:
- Staging social events including Peruvian food nights, picnics, barbeques, concerts and parties.
- Coordinating the sale of wallets which are handmade by our teachers from recycled milk and juice cartons here in Cusco. These wallets are sold through Belgian schools, raising between €4,000 and €5,000 ($5,350 - $6,680) a year. Our activities in schools also continue to build our network of supporters, and educate pupils about the lives of their counterparts in Peru.
- Encouraging individual monthly sponsorships, which bring in a total of around €3,000 ($4,000) per year.
We also receive an annual donation of around €1,200 ($1,600) per year from a printer cartridge recycling company based in Belgium. Other Belgian companies have donated money and goods.
FairPlay also has an ambassador in Belgium. Well known television personality Evi Hanssen regularly gives her time to attend fundraising events and help raise our profile. We are extremely grateful for her support.
If you would like to get involved with our Belgian support group, or would like to donate to FairPlay through them, please see the group’s Facebook page. If you have any questions for us about their work, please get in touch.
