Short-Term Volunteer Work
All volunteer projects at the organisations below are short-term positions with commitments ranging from a few days to one month. Generally, there are no specific requirements for these volunteers.
Mantay
Mantay is an organisation that provides adolescent mothers with work, childcare, accommodation and a safe environment. It aims to reduce levels of child abandonment and enables these women to support themselves in a socially responsible way.
Volunteers with Mantay help with caring for young children, cleaning the house, cooking and maintaining the leatherworks programme. The flexibility of these tasks allows volunteers to fit sightseeing around their time at Mantay. Knowledge of basic Spanish is encouraged, and there is a minimum commitment of one month.
If you are interested in volunteering with Mantay, you can visit their website on www.mantay.org

Centro Gerontologico San Francisco de Asis
This organisation is not an NGO but a joint initiative of the local government, community and Catholic Church. The Centro has existed for 25 years and provides care for many elderly people in Cusco.
Professional elderly care workers such as nurses, administrative workers, or therapists are preferred, but all volunteers are encouraged to help with general care. Specific projects vary with the qualifications of the individual volunteer. Intermediate Spanish is preferred.
Unfortunately the Centro doesn't have an website. Should you be interested in volunteering with the Centro, you can contact Fairplay for further information.
